What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a natural, time-tested healing practice from Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves inserting very thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body. It helps regulate the nervous system, improve circulation, and support the body’s ability to heal itself.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most people are surprised at how little they feel. The needles are extremely thin—much finer than a typical injection needle. You may feel a slight pinch, warmth, tingling, or a dull ache, but many patients find treatments deeply relaxing and even fall asleep.
What conditions can acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture is commonly used for:
-
Pain (back, neck, joints, headaches)
-
Stress, anxiety, and burnout
-
Sleep issues
-
Digestive concerns
-
Hormonal balance
-
Fatigue and low energy
Many patients also use acupuncture for general wellness and preventative care.
What should I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit includes:
-
A health intake and conversation about your health goals
-
Pulse/tongue assessment (if applicable)
-
A customized acupuncture treatment
You’ll relax for about 35–45 minutes during your session.
What should I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing. We typically place needles in areas like the arms, legs, hands, feet, and head—so clothing that can roll up easily is ideal.
How many treatments will I need?
It depends on your condition and goals.
-
Acute issues: Often improve within a few treatments
-
Chronic conditions: Usually benefit from consistent care over time
-
Wellness/maintenance: Many patients come weekly or biweekly
Acupuncture works best as a series, not a one-time treatment.
How often should I receive treatment?
For best results, we often recommend:
-
1–2 times per week at the beginning
-
Then tapering as your condition improves
Consistency is key—especially for pain, stress, and chronic conditions.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes. Acupuncture is extremely safe when performed by a licensed practitioner. We use single-use, sterile needles and follow strict safety and cleanliness protocols.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects are typically mild and may include:
-
Deep relaxation
-
Temporary soreness
-
Slight bruising (rare)
Most people feel calmer, lighter, and more balanced after treatment.
Can I receive treatment even if I’m not in pain?
Absolutely. Many patients use acupuncture for:
-
Stress relief
-
Better sleep
-
Immune support
-
Overall wellness
It’s a great tool for staying healthy—not just treating problems.
