1. What is silicone vacuum cupping?

Silicone vacuum cupping is a massage technique that uses soft, flexible silicone cups to create suction on the skin. This negative pressure gently lifts the tissue, promoting circulation, reducing muscle tension, and supporting lymphatic flow.

2. How is silicone cupping different from traditional fire cupping?

Unlike fire cupping, silicone cups use manual suction (by squeezing the cup) rather than heat to create a vacuum. This makes it safer, easier to control, and suitable for moving techniques (also called “sliding cupping”) during a massage.

3. What are the benefits of silicone vacuum cupping?

  • Relieves muscle tension and stiffness

  • Improves blood and lymphatic circulation

  • Supports recovery from exercise or injury

  • Helps break up fascial adhesions

  • Promotes relaxation and stress relief

  • May improve skin tone and appearance

4. Does cupping hurt?

Cupping should not be painful. Most clients describe it as a strong pulling or stretching sensation. Mild redness or light circular marks may occur temporarily, which is a normal response and usually fades within a few days.

5. How long do the marks last?

Marks can last from a few hours to up to 7 days, depending on the individual and the amount of stagnation in the tissue. They are not bruises but rather a sign of increased circulation and the body’s healing response.

6. Who should avoid silicone cupping?

Cupping is not recommended for:

  • People with uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • People with bleeding disorders or on blood thinners

  • Pregnant clients (on the abdomen or lower back)

  • Clients with open wounds, infections, or recent surgery

  • Clients with severe varicose veins or fragile skin
Always consult with your therapist before treatment.

7. How should I prepare for a cupping session?

  • Stay hydrated before and after your session.

  • Avoid heavy meals or alcohol right before treatment.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing.

8. What should I do after a cupping session?

  • Drink plenty of water to support lymphatic drainage.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures (hot tubs, saunas) for 24 hours.

  • Allow the body to rest if you feel tired.

  • Moisturize the treated area if it feels dry.

9. Can cupping be combined with massage therapy?

Yes! Silicone vacuum cupping is often integrated into massage sessions to enhance muscle relaxation and release. It can be used with oils or lotions for sliding cupping techniques.

10. How often should I get cupping treatments?

For general wellness, once every 2–4 weeks is common. For specific pain or tension issues, your therapist may recommend once or twice weekly sessions until improvement is noticed.
